They help describe the location of objects, people, or places relative to other objects, people, or places. Understanding and correctly using prepositions of place is crucial for effective communication.

"Where" is primarily used as an adverb in English, but it can also function as a conjunction. In the context of prepositions of place, it is often part of prepositional phrases that provide information about location.

Usage of "Where" as a Preposition

1.     Describing Location

    • "Where" is used to ask about the specific location of something.
    • Examples:
      • "Where is the library?"
      • "Where does Ada live?"

2.     Providing Specificity

    • "Where" helps to specify the location of one object in relation to another.
    • Examples:
      • "The school is where the old cinema used to be."
      • "He pointed to where the river meets the sea."

3.     In Indirect Questions
