Basketball Vocabulary by Solomon Osuokam Ogbeh

  1. Dribble - The act of repeatedly bouncing the ball while moving.
    • Chuka dribbled past defenders with skillful control.
  2. Layup - A one-handed shot made close to the basket, often after a short run.
    • Ayo performed a perfect layup during the game.
  3. Three-pointer - A shot made from beyond the three-point line, worth three points.
    • Tolu nailed a crucial three-pointer in the final seconds.
  4. Free Throw - An unopposed shot taken from the free-throw line, awarded after certain fouls.
    • If Bolu is fouled, he gets two free throws.
  5. Rebound - Retrieving the ball after a missed shot.

  6. Assist - A pass that directly leads to a score.
